Our Son's Room

As promised, here are a few photos of what we've done to our second bedroom. We still need to hang the mobile, but everything else is pretty much ready to go... we just need a baby now....

These are some fun motorcycles Scott sketched.

The room comes complete with the Ford shrine.
We love these pictures that Bub (Grandpa Layton) drew for us!

Weeks 12 - 40

From the beginning of the second trimester, we have been capturing the growth of my belly (weight gain) each week. The results are pretty amazing...

Out celebrating our due date together.

The Stylus.... headphones that Scott designed
that just made it into stores this week.

We finished the night off with some Papa Haydn's.
The desserts are as delicious as they look.

Showers

We were honored at a few baby showers in August in anticipation of our son's arrival this month. We are still hopeful he won't be an October baby... Each shower was different, but all were so much fun. We really enjoyed celebrating with everyone and are grateful to have such generous and supportive friends and family.

Co-ed baby shower with friends in Portland.
Highlight: hearing all the interesting names
that can be made out of our names.

Scott loved the metal Tonka dump truck!

Shower with family and friends in Washington.
Highlight: receiving a crocheted blanket my Grandma Quinton
made for me before her health declined.

Baby shower with friends from the ward.
Highlight: watching some of the ladies eating the "poop"
(chocolate) out of the diapers to make a more informed guess.

4 Years, and Counting

Our anniversary this year fell on the best day of the week to celebrate, Thursday! It's really not perfect but Trisha found ways to really make it special for us. She's awesome and surprised me with a cute little heart she made with matches. We then started the day off right by going to a new spot (to us) on 23rd called Besaws that I had heard about, it was pretty tasty. Trisha gave me a really nice card and gift, so at the end of the meal our waiter brought us a treat because he guessed we were celebrating something. And he wanted a fat tip. We went to eat right at opening because we also had an interview with a pediatrician before work. That went well and we went to work, did our things, and then met up for dinner. Which I didn't select until last minute... meaning I knew the area of town I wanted to eat in but hadn't picked a spot. The area I chose just happened to be where everyone in the city wanted to be as well. Come to find out, first Thursdays the NW turns into a local artists gallery and cool people stroll spot. The whole area was really busy and there was no parking... Anyway, we found a cool place to eat some food and get out of the crowds for a bit. Oba was really good and we got a bunch of tapas to sample a lot of stuff. They made the guac right at our table just like we told them to and it was both fun and delicious. The dish that is almost gone was coconut shrimp in an awesome sweet spicy sauce... one of our favorite dishes... followed by some delicious tacos and quesadillas. Because we were new to the restaurant, they gave us a dessert on the house which is hard to describe but was amazing. Imagine chocolate, pineapple, vanilla ice cream, roasted marshmallows, and banana all combined in the most delicious way... that's more or less what it was like.

Trisha is my best friend and it was fun to squeeze in some play time mid-week. She really makes everything so enjoyable for us and the last 4 years have been so much fun. Already in our short time being married, we've had lots to laugh at... some only after some time has passed. Trisha is my everything and I feel like we've already been through or experienced so much together.

We always buy a new pair of shoes to wear on our
anniversary, and these we our digs for our special day.

Bitter Sweet... Mostly Bitter

We've owned and enjoyed riding our motorcycle for the past four years and have some great memories with it. It somehow made selling our station wagon a lot more bearable for me when Trisha and I were engaged. Trisha was a great sport trusting me to get a motorcycle, we did have a few talks about it before we both thought it was a good idea. So I rode real carefully on the way home from buying the bike so that she would trust me even more with it from then on. ;) I rode it to and from school. I brought home pizza, milk, and groceries, and even took it to California when I was interning there. That was probably the best time with the bike since the weather was nice most days and lane splitting was legal. I rode it every day to and from work and would go out for rides even during my lunch breaks. When I'd fly home, while on that internship, I'd ride 45 minutes to the airport with my backpack and a duffle because parking was free for bikes. I'll stop reminiscing and run through the rest... bumped a deer, punched out a taillight, got some stitches, unknowingly had a police chase, got a ticket, adjusted my mirrors, snapped a drive belt, and retired a rear tire with style.... ALL that fun and since moving up here to Portland we've rarely ridden the bike. After a year and a half of dusting and washing off a bike a lot more than riding it, we decided someone else should be out enjoying it.

Riding home the day we bought the bike... wearing my fiancĂ©'s
sweater and a stranger's helmet... that was a few sizes too big.

The last we saw of her... until we got on the freeway to go for dessert
and saw the guy who had just bought the bike just babying it along.

On Our Way Home From Work Thursday...

Every year we stumble upon the Northwest Classic Rally because the start and finish point is along our drive to work. Last year we caught it the morning they were starting the race, but this year we saw it the night they were gathering. We just couldn't pass by without stopping to check it out... Besides, our little champ needs as much exposure to classic cars as possible, and we are starting early:) There were lots of fun old european cars you don't see very often, with a few other cars we're more familiar with mixed in.

Quinton Time

We spent last weekend out on the coast for the Quinton family reunion, and it was a lot of fun to spend time together and catch up with extended family. We walked on the beach, drove down to Tillamook to the cheese factory and to the air museum (which was a new one for us), played a little mini-golf, and ate some good seafood. The trip was short and sweet!

Don't you just love the feel of sand on your feet?!

Scott as pilot... he's so dreamy!

Showing off the baby bump...

With soon-to-be Uncle Brady.

We figured this would be a perfect family vehicle... Scott drives,
Trisha's on the seat behind, and our son would be strapped in to
the side car...

We all decided that early helicopters are scary...

Scott put together a model of this airplane the day before.
We later saw the actual planes that dad and Brady were
putting together as well.

This plane just lands in the water on its boat shaped belly, pretty interesting.

The structure of the blimp hanger was amazing too. Dad
mentioned that planes would fly through it back in the
day... so cool.

Scott killing it on the golf course. This was a little different than your average
mini-golf course as there weren't any bumpers like you normally see. It mimicked
real golf holes which was a lot of fun but also more challenging.
